Hello Friday...Bits 'n Bobs

Dwell-sofa

Happy Friday!  There's a feeling you want in your home, that one antique piece that makes your heart surge, the wall of color that lights you up every time you lay eyes on it.  The moment came for us when our Edward sectional arrived from Dwell Studio.  It isn't just the elegant, 60s-inspired tailoring that's seductive, it's the "Hatta" fabric in Citrine that's paid off.  Each and every time I walk into the living room, this sofa smacks of sunny-sun, sunshine.  I literally say to myself, "This is the happiest sofa I've ever seen." A week in, and I couldn't be any happier.

Now as a mother of an 18-month-old, you may be wondering, What Were You Thinking?  No worries, I was right there with you.  But honestly, in my heart of hearts, I just couldn't bear another beige or gray sofa.  We just got rid of our beige and gray ones, and I wanted a major change.  This sofa needed to be a statement piece.  {By the way, this post is pretty long-winded for a Hello Friday...Bits 'n Bobs piece but feel free to skip to the bottom!} We had gone couch shopping for at least six months bouncing all around NYC and amassing a pile of tearsheets and fabric swatches.  We decided we'd purchase a sofa from XX in a gray leather.

When I got home, for some reason, I started poking around Dwell Studio's website again, and spotted the Edward.  I called their Soho shop, and was told a floor display wouldn't arrive for four weeks.  So, the couch shopping just got a little longer.  That's ok, I ruminated.  Weeks later, we visited Edward, and then I looked at the fabric choices.  And you know that feeling when your whole being just says yes! and there's very little weighing of pros/cons or hemming and hawing.  That was it for me standing at Dwell with Citrine farbric in my hand.  I wholly admit, my heart wasn't into the gray leather sofa from XX but sometimes shopping is exhausting mentally and physically, and the fuel tank is empty.  But then something, somehow saves the day.

What has been your experience with buying a sofa?  What is your process, and did you find furniture shopping enjoyable or a big pain?  Now for some bits 'n bobs!

{ } This arrived {see pic above}, and I’m in love.

{ } I am in the process of doing this to my bookshelves.

{ } This is worth flying, bussing or training {hint} to New York City for.

{ } I’m building my vinyl record collection, and will need these.

{ } Recently remembered the gorgeous color, ‘Duck Egg Blue.’  Now, can’t stop thinking about it.

OMG I loved this post! Everything from your sofa to your baby to your bits and bobs!

I concur with the "shop and get it over with" but you're right, sometimes you have to take your time to find the right piece. BTW, duck egg blue is one of my favorite colors too.

LOL vinyl records! How is it that the youngsters love records and they're like novelties? Why did they leave in the first place?

TISLstyle I think you've just convinced me to do a brighter sofa. OMG, it's been an ordeal between lite beige, medium beige and dark light beige. I'm not kidding! I absolutely LOVE your sofa. Thank you!!

You made the right decision. YOur couch is gorgeous and Dwell Studio is one of my favorite designers.

I <3 Dwell Studio and I <3 <3 <3 your couch choice!!!
